# EarthCoop Account Setup: Profile and Preferences
> Configure your EarthCoop account step by step — personal details, profession and expertise, precise location, and language and calendar preferences.
Your EarthCoop account is the foundation of everything you do on the platform. A complete, accurate profile ensures the platform can match you with the right groups, projects, and collaborators — and it signals to other members that you are a trustworthy, committed participant in the cooperative network. This guide walks you through every aspect of account creation and profile configuration.
## Registration
EarthCoop registration is a structured, four-part process. You start by creating your login credentials, then complete three profile steps after your email is verified. You can also start instantly using your Google account.
On the sign-up screen, provide your **email address** and choose a secure **password** (minimum six characters). Alternatively, select **Continue with Google** to register using your existing Google account — no password required.
Once you submit this screen, EarthCoop immediately sends a **verification code** to your email address. Enter that code on the next screen to verify your account and unlock the remaining registration steps.
Your account has limited functionality until your email is verified. You will not be able to complete your profile, join groups, submit projects, or use the NajmBahar financial system until verification is complete. If you do not receive the code within five minutes, check your spam folder or request a new code from the verification screen.
After email verification, fill in your core identity details.

| **Date of Birth** | Used to confirm you meet the minimum age requirement (15 years). |

| **Nationality** | Your national identity, used for group recommendations. |
| **National ID** | A ten-digit national identification number for identity verification. |
| **Phone Number** | Your mobile number, used for account security and notifications. |
| **Password** | Set or confirm your password here if you registered with Google and have not yet created one. |
If you registered with Google, email verification is handled automatically by your Google account's verified status. You can still set a separate platform password on this screen if you prefer.
This step defines your professional identity on the platform and determines which skill-based groups are recommended to you.

| **Occupational Field** | Your primary professional category, selected from a hierarchical category tree (e.g., Engineering, Agriculture, Healthcare, Education). |
| **Area of Expertise** | A more specific discipline or set of competencies within your occupational field (e.g., Civil Engineering, Organic Farming, Software Development). |
You can select more than one occupational field or area of expertise if your work spans multiple disciplines.
You can update your profession and expertise at any time from your profile settings. If your career evolves or you develop new skills, keeping this section current ensures you continue receiving the most relevant group and project recommendations.
EarthCoop organizes groups across multiple geographic levels. On this screen, define your precise location by selecting each level of the hierarchy.

| **Province / State** | Your regional administrative division. |

| **City or Rural Area** | Your city or the rural area you belong to. |
| **Region** | A subdivision of your city or rural area. |
| **Neighborhood** | Your immediate local community within the region. |
| **Street** | Optional. Your street within the neighborhood. |
| **Alley** | Optional. Your alley within the street. |
Your location profile determines which local, regional, national, and global groups are surfaced to you. You are automatically added to cooperative groups that match the geographic levels you select.
Be as precise as possible when selecting your neighborhood. Location accuracy directly improves the quality of your local group matches and makes it easier for nearby members to find and trust you.
## Google Sign-In
If you register using Google, your email is automatically considered verified and you can proceed directly to the personal information step. You can review or disconnect the Google sign-in connection at any time under **Account Settings → Security → Connected Accounts**.
## Profile Fields Reference
Once your account is fully active, navigate to **Profile → Edit Profile** to review and update all of your profile details at any time.

| **Gender** | Optional; used for community diversity insights. |
| **Nationality** | Your national identity. |
| **Occupational Field** | Your primary professional category. |
| **Area of Expertise** | Your focused discipline and key competencies. |
| **Location** | Your full geographic profile from continent down to neighborhood. |
| **Language Preference** | Choose **English** or **Persian (Farsi)** for the platform interface. |
| **Calendar System** | Choose **Gregorian** or **Jalali (Solar Hijri)** for all dates across the platform. |
## Language and Calendar Preferences
EarthCoop is built for a global and culturally diverse community. Set your preferences from **Account Settings → Preferences** at any time.
* **Language:** Switching to Persian activates a fully translated interface, including menus, notifications, group content labels, and system messages.
* **Calendar:** Selecting Jalali converts all dates across the platform — project deadlines, election dates, chat timestamps, and financial records — into the Solar Hijri format familiar to Persian-speaking users.
Language and calendar preferences are personal and do not affect how other members in your groups see dates or content. Each member sees the platform in their own preferred language and calendar system.
## Password Reset
If you forget your password, go to the login page and select **Forgot Password**. Enter your registered email address and EarthCoop will send you a six-digit reset code. Enter the code on the reset screen, then set a new password. Reset codes expire after five minutes.
