# Manage Your EarthCoop Profile Settings and Preferences

| **Gender** | Determines which gender-specific groups you are matched to. |

</Note>

### Privacy toggles

Each personal information field has a visibility toggle that controls whether other members can see it on your public profile. You can independently show or hide your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, national ID, biography, documents, social networks, groups list, and join date.

## Professional information

The professional section determines which **occupational** and **experience-based** cooperative groups you belong to. These groups are organised into a hierarchy — selecting a specialty automatically adds you to the corresponding groups at your current geographic level all the way up to the global level.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select occupational fields">
    Choose one or more fields from the **Occupational Fields** selector. These represent your trade, industry, or professional sector. Subcategories are available for each top-level field.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select experience fields">
    Choose one or more fields from the **Experience Fields** selector. These represent areas of practical expertise that may differ from your formal occupation.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save** to apply changes. The platform immediately updates your group memberships — adding you to groups for newly selected fields and removing you from groups for deselected fields.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Warning>
  Removing an occupational or experience field also removes you from all associated cooperative groups at every geographic level. Rejoin those groups manually if you remove a field by mistake.
</Warning>

## Location

Your location determines which geographically scoped cooperative groups you belong to. EarthCoop uses a hierarchical location model with the following levels:

| Level                 | Scope                       |
| --------------------- | --------------------------- |
| Alley                 | Hyper-local (smallest unit) |
| Street                | Local                       |
| Neighborhood          | Local                       |
| Region / Village      | District                    |
| City / Rural district | Municipal                   |

| Province              | Regional                    |
| Country               | National                    |
| Continent             | Continental                 |

## Language preference

EarthCoop supports **English** and **Persian (Farsi)**. To switch languages:

1. Go to **Edit Profile**.
2. Find the **Language** selector in the preferences section.
3. Choose **English** or **Persian**.
4. Save. The interface updates immediately.

<Tip>

</Tip>

## Profile completeness

A complete profile unlocks better group matching and participation features. The platform tracks completion across five areas: identity verification, professional fields, location, experience fields, and social information. When you complete a milestone, the system awards profile completion points to your account.

To see your current profile completeness level, check the progress indicator at the top of your Edit Profile page. Each incomplete section is highlighted with a prompt explaining what to fill in.
