EarthCoop System Groups and Member Participation
Groups are a core operating structure in EarthCoop, but not every group is created or joined in the same way. The most important distinction is between system groups, which EarthCoop materializes from verified member dimensions, and user-created groups, which members may establish for separate organizational purposes.
System groups
When registration and the required profile dimensions are complete, EarthCoop automatically resolves the member's relevant system memberships. A member does not need to search for or manually create these groups.
The system model contains three broad families:
- Public assemblies — geographic public-governance groups tied to the member's Primary Residence and the applicable governance hierarchy.
- Professional and specialty groups — groups derived from occupation, profession and expertise across the applicable geographic hierarchy.
- Age/gender groups — system groups derived from those member dimensions across the applicable geographic hierarchy.
A single person can therefore appear in several system groups at the same geographic level because each group represents a different dimension of participation.
User-created groups
User-created groups are separate from the automatic system structure. They can support member initiatives such as organizations, unions, companies or other cooperative activities where the relevant product flow permits them.
Creating a user-created group does not replace a public assembly, professional/specialty group, or age/gender system group. Likewise, settings on a user-created group must not be read as changing the constitutional or governance status of system groups.
Geographic and governance hierarchy
System memberships connect local participation to wider levels. The canonical Location/Governance model resolves the member's base governance area from Primary Residence and then connects that membership upward through applicable wider governance areas.
The topology is not a fixed neighborhood → city-only chain. EarthCoop supports cases such as a city without an urban region, an urban region without a neighborhood, and a village without a neighborhood. See Location & Governance for the residence and topology rules.
Active participation and observation
System membership does not mean identical permissions at every level.
- At the member's current local/base governance level, the relevant Active membership can carry direct participation rights according to the group/domain rules.
- At applicable higher system levels, the member can be represented as an Observer rather than receiving an automatic right to intervene directly in every discussion, poll, or systemic election.
- Temporary Active is a limited participation role used where the current rules permit additional participation in small groups. It is not equivalent to Active for systemic-election eligibility: it does not create systemic-election voting/selectability rights and does not count as an ordinary Active member for that purpose.
- Elected Inspector and Manager roles remain member roles with the systemic voting/selectability rights preserved by the current eligibility contract; election to responsibility does not erase the member's personal voting right.
Do not infer a role change merely because a community grows or because an election occurs. Role and election eligibility are governed by the canonical membership/election rules.
Pending location memberships
A member can complete the registration/residence flow with a valid proposed base location that is still pending review. Related system memberships can therefore exist in a pending state while the proposal awaits confirmation.
Community support for a pending location is evidence for review priority/readiness. Support is not approval. Reaching the configured support threshold does not itself make the proposed location administratively approved.
What can happen inside groups
EarthCoop group surfaces can include communication, posts, polls, systemic-election items, and project/community activity, but availability and permission are domain- and role-dependent. A guide should not imply that every member can perform every action in every group.
- Chat and messaging follow group/session participation rules.
- Polls are a decision/opinion domain distinct from formal system elections.
- System elections select official responsibilities such as Manager and Inspector under the systemic-election lifecycle.
- Projects and economic activity follow their own project and Najm Bahar contracts.
- Najm Hoda may assist through implemented interaction/orchestration surfaces, but it does not become the group's legislator or replace member decisions.
